The Gettee Project
Gettee is a simple HTTP downloader written in Java. Its main target
is the Macintosh although it should work on other platforms that
have Java 5 installed.
This is an beta release as well as my first sourceforge project. I
cannot accept any responsibilities for the use of this software. It
has not been fully professionnaly tested.
You can
download a working release.
-
If you are on Linux or Windows and Java is properly configured
(a.o. it handles the executable JARs properly), simply download the
JAR file and double-click on it to launch Gettee.
Alternatively, you can input 'java -jar gettee.[version].jar' at a
command line.
-
If you are on a Mac, download the DMG file. It should open
automatically. If not, double-click on it. Drag the application
onto your application folder and you're done: Gettee is installed.
Finally, the ZIP file contains the source of the project. It is a
Netbeans project that you can open with Netbeans 5.0. However, Netbeans
is not necessary to compile or edit this project. It comes with a
standard ant build.xml that you can run without Netbeans. If you
download the ZIP file, you are not obliged to compile the project
though: binaries are provided in in the dist/ directory.
Uninstalling
Please note that Gettee creates one file on your filesystem i.e.
$HOME/.gettee. To uninstall Gettee, dump the jar and this file...
I would like to thank the following projects and organisations as they
have made Gettee possible:
Versions:
-
0.7: Corrected some typos in the code commentaries.
Added icon in the Linux and Windows versions
Now provide a by-default name in the command line if none is provided
(default name is 'gettee-download').
Fixed the bug that prevented the icon to be viewd in the 'About'
dialog.
-
0.6: Added confirmation of overwriting if the command line is
used
Added many comments in the code.
There is now a .dmg for Mac users.
-
0.5.1: This is exactly the same version as 0.5 but the files are
not corrupted in this one.
-
0.5: You can now download from the command line :
java -jar gettee.jar <URL> </path/to/file>
Careful though! The command
line version does not prompt you before overwriting the file.
-
0.4: Added the possibility to download only the jar binary.
-
0.3: new feature: if one tries to download to a file that
already exists, there is a warming to avoid accidental
overwriting.
-
0.2: bug correction: the property file created for the
application was $HOME/.wgetosx, replaced with $HOME/.gettee
-
0.1: initial release, alpha
